Gifts from Above

For the past several years, Christine and I have been asking the Lord to bring us musicians who are connected with the Spirit to play with Sweetbird. As much as we love peforming together as a duo, the music we hear in our heads - the music inspired by the Spirit - often requires more than vocal and guitar.

Last year, we were blessed to meet Steve Cioppa, a gifted drummer/percussionist with a loving heart. Steve has been performing with Sweetbird over the past several months and his presence in the band has been wonderful. Steve has been a real blessing. As it turns out, Steve and Christine are related. They are related through Christine's niece, who happens to be the person to whom the Lord told us to dedicate "Shine."

Don't you just love the way the Lord works?

Speaking of the way the Lord works, last week He brought us another gift. This time, it was a bass player named Mike Kuchcinski, who lives near Hartford, CT, about 40 minutes from Sweetbird's home base. It turns out Mike has been performing with Steve Cioppa in another group, but he was looking for something more. Steve told Mike about Sweetbird a while back, but it wasn't until last week that the Spirit moved greatly in Mike's heart.

In a series of personal email exchanges, it was clear to me and Christine that the Lord was moving to bring Mike and his heart into Sweetbird. We haven't played yet with him (we will later this week), but Mike has been practicing day and night to learn Sweetbird's music so that he can begin performing with us. It turns out that Mike loves to play fretless bass, which is a real blessing because that fretless sound is integral to everything Sweetbird does.

Christine and I welcome Mike (and his wife, Magdalena), to Sweetbird, as we did Steve Cioppa and his beautiful family. It is a real blessing to have them with us as we continue to journey down the narrow path into the Light.

Seek first the kingdom...

In His kingdom, there are no coincidences. There is a purpose and a season for everything. The purpose of Sweetbird's music is to illuminate the Lord and His never-failing love. We thank the Lord for Steve and Mike, and we look forward to perfoming His music in the months ahead.

May you continue to love the Lord with all your heart.

Agape,

Steve

We've never had the honor to have a proper band, but we've always believed that the Lord would provide the right people for a band. Recently, we were contacted by a man who plays basshails from Poland
